Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-07-06
NAVIG is a local-first operator: the CLI, the daemon, and the desktop apps (NAVIG Anchor and NAVIG Echo) run on your own machine. This policy explains what they do — and do not do — with your data. The short version: your text, files, and infrastructure credentials stay on your computer; AI runs through the provider and keys you choose.
NAVIG Anchor — what it does with your text
When you trigger an action, Anchor copies the text you have selected and sends it to your local NAVIG engine running on your own computer (http://127.0.0.1). NAVIG then forwards the request to the AI provider you configured (e.g. OpenAI, Anthropic, or a local model).
Anchor itself does notsend your text to NAVIG’s servers, and the NAVIG developers do not receive, store, or process your selected text.
The AI provider you choose processes your text under theirprivacy policy. Review your provider’s terms; Anchor has no control over that processing.
Clipboard
Anchor reads the current selection by issuing a copy, and writes results back by pasting. It uses the clipboard transiently for this and does not retain or transmit clipboard history.
Data collection
Anchor collects no analytics, telemetry, or personal data.
Your configuration (custom actions, snippets, and hotkeys) is stored locally under ~/.navig/anchor/. Screen recordings and captures you create are saved locally under ~/.navig/captures/ and are never uploaded.
Network
The only network connection Anchor initiates is to your local NAVIG engine on 127.0.0.1. It does not connect to any third-party endpoint directly, and it does not self-update.
The wider NAVIG platform
The NAVIG core and CLI operate your own infrastructure (servers, databases, files, messaging) using credentials you provide, stored in an encrypted local vault on your machine. Optional cloud features (the Harbor account, licensing, and the reachability relay) transmit only what is needed to authenticate your account and route your own traffic — never your operational data, file contents, or AI prompts. Self-hosting keeps everything on infrastructure you control.
Children
NAVIG is a general productivity and developer tool and is not directed at children under 13.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated date above.
